Toby Bailey

A new resident of sunny Nelson, New Zealand, I was previously located in Edinburgh, Scotland.
For the last 20+ years I’ve worked in the technology sector turning my hand to a huge variety of different challenges:

  • Integrated circuit design (microchips) – from simulating analogue blocks to managing entire system on chip developments, image sensors to power-line networking chips
  • Electronic hardware design – dealing with all kinds of reference designs, test equipment, characterization boards and customer products
  • Software design – embedded, application, mobile application, test automation
  • Product design – CAD, materials, prototyping and manufacture

I’ve worked at all levels from junior engineer to member of the board. I’ve been with start-ups from day one and run large technical teams for Fortune 500 companies. I’ve been in the lab at 2 a.m. debugging esoteric problems and presented investor pitches in a suit and tie. I’ve delivered nerve-wracking barely held together demos and I’ve guided whole teams through ISO quality certifications. Most of all I’ve helped turn ideas into products, customers into converts and design concepts into revenue.

I’ve come to realise that I’m addicted to building things and I derive my satisfaction from helping take something from concept to excellence….be that a chip, an electronic product, some software, a technical team, organisational structure or business process.

I’m keen to use that experience to help companies realise their product goals and grow.
